Problem We Helped Solve

Like most construction sites, only 80A of temporary building supply was available from the street, far below the >600A needed to operate all of the on-site equipment. Under traditional methods, the site would have required at least two 220kVA generators, resulting in high fuel consumption, emissions, noise and increased operating costs.

What Needed to be Powered

High-demand construction equipment including:
– 250A tower crane
– 63A concrete pump
– Two construction hoists
– General site building power

Alternatives Assessed

Multiple diesel generators would have been required – at least 2 × 220kVA generators.

  • Deployed 1 x Powershift CP300 unit, trickle charging from just 32A of the TBS and powering the crane, concrete pump and hoists. This allowed the remaining TBS to cover general site building power.
  • The battery delivers high output instantly during demand spikes from the equipment and recharges efficiently during low-load periods, delivering power with maximum efficiency.
  • This solution eliminated the need for diesel generators altogether.

CP300 units are highly compact, plug-and-play battery systems specially designed to power high peak electric machinery such as cranes, hoists, booms, welders and more.

Although the calculated maximum demand exceeded 600A, real-world load diversity means the Powershift battery can efficiently manage peaks without compromising performance. The battery remains continuously trickle-charged from a 32A supply, discharging only when required and maintaining above 90% state-of-charge throughout the whole project.

46t CO₂ Saved in the Early Stages

Significant emissions reduction, with over 46 tonnes of CO₂ saved in the first six months.

Reduced Costs

Far cheaper to operate than multiple generators, with no fuel, servicing or maintenance costs.

Compact Solution

The small size of the unit enabled easy deployment on a space constrained site.
