Problem We Helped Solve

There was no permanent power available in time for the construction of a large industrial distribution centre. Traditional methods would have required a generator to run 24/7, which presents challenges due to noise, cost and reliability of power.

What Needed to be Powered

– Multiple site buildings: including offices, lunch sheds, meeting rooms, change rooms, ablution block.
– Requirement for continuous, reliable power with minimal downtime and disruption to both staff and neighbouring buildings.

Alternatives Assessed

The only alternative was a diesel generator running 24/7 (standard approach)

  • Deployment of one Powershift LX 60/125 battery, coupled with a 60kVA generator – the generator only ran approximately 3 hours per day to charge up the battery and then automatically switched off.
  • Powershift team was also able leveraged the battery to support the site over periods when the generator had an issue or was not re-fuelled on time – preventing outages and downtime.

LX Series mobile batteries are a compact system with a wide range of applications across civil and commercial construction, site sheds, remote offices, events and more.

In the first 6 months of deployment, Powershifts hybrid system delivered the following results:

Delivered CO₂ Savings

Over 88 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved.

Quiet, Low-Emission Energy

Quiet, low-emission power, improving site working conditions while reducing operational costs.

Generator run-time Reduced by 75%

Generator run-time reduced by 75%, operating only ~3 hours per day instead of continuously.

Reduced Costs

Reduced operational costs due to reductions in fuel and maintenance.

Maintenance Reduction

Significant maintenance reduction: only 1 × 500-hour generator service needed instead of 11 that would have otherwise been needed.

Continuous Power

Continuous power across the site, with zero outages.
