THE BRIEF
Problem We Helped Solve
Load 28 and Hindmarsh needed an innovative way to overcome the problem of insufficient temp building supply to power all of their peak loads across their construction program, with the added challenge of space constraints. With limited space on site and the project located in a dense, built-up area, traditional diesel generators weren’t a suitable option. Gensets also posed other challenges including noise, having to exhaust fumes away from the site and worrying about productivity losses from refuelling delays and time offline due to maintenance. They required a compact, reliable, and low-impact temp power solution that could support their construction needs without disrupting the site or surrounding environment.
Alternatives Assessed
Multiple diesel generators would have been required, at least 2 × 350kVA generators.
THE POWERSHIFT SOLUTION
CP300 units are highly compact, plug-and-play battery systems specially designed to power high peak electric machinery such as cranes, hoists, booms, welders and more.
THE HIGHLIGHTS
Throughout the project, the battery has delivered consistent, reliable power and has not dropped below a 95% state of charge. This has given site managers peace of mind, knowing the battery is operating with significant additional capacity while still comfortably powering all equipment—removing any concerns about power reliability on site.
“Powershift have done a fantastic job delivering the CP300 battery. This is the first time we’ve used a battery solution in South Australia, and the size, low noise, and reduced emissions were key reasons for choosing it. The environmental benefits—particularly the savings on fuel and emissions—have been outstanding. As this is a Green Star project, it’s a great innovation to be able to use. Best of all, it’s been a true ‘set and forget’ solution.“
– Hindmarsh
“We spent a lot of time working through the setup, and the tech team were really good to deal with. The fact that the battery is running at less than 50% of its capacity gives us plenty of confidence that we can fully cycle the crane without worrying about running out of power. From a site perspective, we’re really happy knowing there won’t be any power issues.“
