Problem We Helped Solve

Paynter Dixon required a temporary power solution for a 19-storey, 248-unit mixed-use
development but wanted to avoid the cost, maintenance burden and operational challenges
associated with running generators. The project required power across multiple locations on
site, with varying load demands throughout construction.

What Needed to be Powered

2 x 220A Tower Crane
2 x 120A Hoist
Jump Form
100A Site Amenities
2 x Satellites
3x 63A Temp DB’s
Dewatering

Alternatives Assessed

The site would have required at least 2x 350Kva Generators, alongside the 63A mains
connection.

  • The Powershift team developed a tailored temporary power strategy that showcased the flexibility of integrating multiple battery sizes to meet changing site demands
  • A Powershift Enertainer battery was deployed to support the site’s larger and more variable power loads. Its high-capacity energy storage enabled reliable operation while charging from a modest 63A mains grid connection.
  • To support a second crane and small dewatering operations, a P300 battery was deployed and actually charged from the Powershift Enertainer battery.
  •  24/7 monitoring and support by Powershift, provided real-time visibility of power usage and ensured peak demand was always met.

The Enertainer Series are large-scale advanced battery systems, engineered to power entire construction sites and heavy industrial plant and equipment.

The battery units successfully supported the various loads, delivering several key benefits to
Paynter Dixon:

Cost Savings

Reduced operating costs by eliminating the need for continuous generator
operation, significantly lowering fuel, maintenance, and servicing expenses.

Improved Efficiency

With no generator refuelling, servicing, or maintenance required, site teams could focus on project delivery rather than managing power infrastructure.

Space Efficient

The compact footprint of the battery units enabled deployment in a constrained
construction environment without disrupting site operations. This was particularly valuable as power was required across two separate locations on site.

Scalable Power Solution

The combination of battery systems provided the flexibility to adapt to changing site requirements, ensuring reliable power throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Reduced Noise Impact

Operating silently compared to traditional generators, the battery solution minimised noise impacts on neighbouring residents. This was a significant advantage given the project was being delivered within an established apartment community.
