Delayed Grid Connection

Location

Moonee Ponds, VIC

Problem We Helped Solve

A newly built fast-food chain in Moonee Ponds faced repeated delays in securing permanent power, with the grid connection pushed back twice and impacting its ability to open on time. The site required a reliable temporary solution to support the high and consistent demands of a fast-paced food operation, with a required output exceeding 100kW, almost 24/7.

Alternatives Assessed

The only alternative was to wait up to six months for permanent grid power and delay the open date due to the close proximity of the fast food restaurant to neighbouring residential apartments, with noise complaints being a major constraint.

  • Deployed 2x POWRBANK MAX units, connected in series to increase capacity of run-time without generator noise and ensure consistent power delivery.
  • Configured a hybrid system where the generator charges the first battery, which then feeds and charges the second, optimising load management, reducing generator runtime, and enabling extended generator downtime for lower noise and uninterrupted maintenance.
  •  24/7 monitoring and support by Powershift, provided real-time visibility of power usage and ensured peak demand was always met.

POWRBANK MAX units are a large-scale mobile battery system designed for high-powered and long-duration commercial, industrial and grid applications

The POWRBANK MAX delivered reliable temporary power capable of managing the high and continuous load of the food outlet. This approach provided stable, full-day power without the need for overnight generator use, reducing fuel consumption and allowing the site to continue progressing despite ongoing grid delays.
