Problem We Helped Solve


During early construction and commissioning of the food-waste-to-energy facility in Victoria, grid power was unavailable. With critical bacteria at the facility that cannot survive for more than a few hours during a power outage, Delorean required a full-proof solution that could act as a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) and guarantee continuous reliable power.

Alternatives Assessed


The alternative considered was the use of a standalone diesel generator operating 24/7, coupled with a larger back-up generator to manage peak loads due to the criticality of the project. This option was considered less reliable than a hybrid BESS-generator solution, as it did not offer remote monitoring capability, and was more expensive.

  • Powershift deployed a POWRBANK MAX battery system in a hybrid configuration with the existing 275kVA diesel generator.
  • The battery carried the site load continuously, only calling on the generator when required to recharge. This significantly reduced generator runtime and fuel consumption, while improving power resilience throughout the project. Whenever the generator went down of required maintenance, the battery could continue powering the site without interruption.
  • 24/7 monitoring and support by the Powershift team ensured the battery delivered consistent, reliable power throughout the project, giving the customer peace of mind.
